Medical Transcriptionist (On-call)

Note: This is an on-call position that will require the employee to work on-site when contacted for transcription needs. Estimated hours of service annually is 120 hours. The Medical Transcriptionist provides transcription services of dictation dealing with inpatient, outpatient or ambulatory medical treatment.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Transcribes highly specialized medical dictation covering a wide range of medical specialties meeting established medical, legal, and accreditation and organization requirements.

Organizes patient records and the relationship of their parts in order to search records and extract medical information and data.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.


Medical Transcriptionist

Ideal candidate will have three years of transcription experience, oncology experience a plus. Also, must have good English grammar skills, and be able to understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.


Experienced Transcriber Wanted (Anchorage)

Ubiqus Reporting Inc. is a New York, NY-based company specializing in document services, with a nation-wide base of freelance transcription service providers. We are currently looking to increase our roster of corporate, legal and medical transcriptionists. This is a work-from-home, freelance position.

Corporate Transcription:

This is the term for general, unspecialized transcription. Audio may be single speaker, 2-person interviews, focus groups, meetings, or many other types of setup, and the topics vary widely. This category does not require extensive past transcription experience, though experience is preferred. Candidates must be able to play MP3 and other audio formats, and deliver transcripts in Microsoft Word format.

Legal Transcription:

This is primarily audio of courtroom proceedings, recorded by the courts and requested by attorneys and agencies for transcription, but may also include interrogations and law enforcement recordings, as well as other recordings prepared for use in a legal hearing. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal transcription and/or court reporting, and it is preferred that they are familiar with court audio formats in addition to standard MP3 audio. Ability to work in Microsoft Word is required.

Medical Transcription:

This is generally seminar and meeting audio, as opposed to physician dictation. Also includes physician interviews and webcasts. Experience with pharmaceutical terminology and other medical specialties is preferred, and formal training/experience in medical transcription is ideal. Like the two categories above, ability to play MP3 audio and deliver Microsoft Word transcripts is required.

Candidates must also possess the appropriate equipment to perform transcription at a professional level from their home office environment. This includes a dedicated reliable computer and Internet connection. Transcription software and a WAV foot pedal are not essential, but strongly recommended.

Full-time Transcription Editor Responsible for adding documentation to patient record; monitoring encounter forms for billing and dictation compliance. Candidate must have medical terminology; knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices including legal responsibilities related to confidentiality; effective written and oral communication skills with physicians and other staff. Hours are 8-5 Monday thru Friday.
