Here is a job from the Toronto Craigslist. I am being asked frquently about whether Canadians can work as contractors for American companies. They certainly can, but there is a trend as far as corporations in America having blanket policies against outsourcing. Of course these corporations will quite often hire large scale transcription companies who will then subcontract to whover they think can get the job done effectively.

I am seeking an experienced transcriptionist to handle occasional overflow work.

The subject matter is typically corporate or academic in nature, requiring general popular knowledge and an academic background over any specific transcription training, per se. A solid grasp of grammar and sentence structure is paramount.

Please be able to process MP3 audio files and Real Media (.rm) video files, and be familiar with basic timecoding.

I pay a flat rate $70 per hour of recorded material. Invoices are paid through PayPal or by business check. PayPal is strongly preferred.

Native English speakers only, please. Again, quality writing and a familiarity with common business and academic terminology are key.

Please send contact information, a resume highlighting transcription experience, and two references to the email above.

Thank you!

* Location: Toronto
* Compensation: US$70/hour of recorded material

    If you are looking for someone in “TORONTO”, you had better not say “Native English speakers only”!! In this city, there are much more people whose English are second languages are much more capable than “Native English speakers only”!!
    THIS WORLD IS BIG. YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ENOUGH!!!

    Personally, I think the capable people to whom you are referring should apply.
