Here are some typical requirements that I found at QED Transcription’s website. They require US citizenship, access to high speed internet and a proficient typing speed to accuracy ratio at 50-60 WPM or more.

They have a very specific procedure that they ask prospective employees to follow. The first step is a typing test. If you score well on that speed test you are then asked to e-mail a résumé. After your résumé is recieved, you can send another e-mail asking for a login that you can use when you take their transcription test.

It is really important when looking for work that you carefully read what the particular procedure is for a specific employer. You don’t need to understand WHY an employer want things done a certain way, just know that applicants who do not follow standard procedure are unlikely to get a job.
